Move over, Ms L!

Hi all, wondering why you are looking at this jumbled up page? This is due to the fact that Facebook didn't like our url since it starts with wog, so we have been forced to move the blog. This was some time ago, and we have placed a script which would automatically send you to our new location. Obviously, this hasn't worked for all of you, since we have just finished moderating some of your comments which appeared on this site recently, and not on our new (and improved!) site. So what we're saying is head on over to our new site, and update your bookmarks!

Wings Over America deluxe in June?

Bill King of Beatlefan just revealed that Hear Music is planning a "june-ish" release of the remastered "Wings Over America", and that it will include the "RockShow" concert film on DVD, as well as what's described as "far more bells and whistles" than any of the other Macca archive releases to date. King promises more details in Beatlefan/EXTRA! #317...

If true, the inclusion of the "RockShow" movie on DVD in the deluxe edition is contrary to earlier reports which indicated that fans would have to buy "RockShow" separately. We can only speculate about the other "bells and whistles" included, but what we'd really like to see is the "Wings Over The World" TV movie about the tour, and the 1975 Wings concert from Melbourne that was filmed to compensate for the tour not being able to travel to Japan. Paul's drug problems again, I'm afraid. There used to be a book from the American leg of the Wings tour as well, a photo book in black and white by Hipgnosis, called "Hands Across The Water". But I'm sure they'll make another book for this release.

Of course, they'll just have to reproduce the posters that used to be included with the triple vinyl album in some form or other.

Roger, thanks for the heads up. Any word on a possible blu-ray, or will this be standard definition only?

Thanks again,

Ron Harris

Well, so far the McCartney Archives has only used DVD as the format for video contents.

When they say "far more bells and whistles," I am thinking he may go the route of David Bowie's Station To Station or Eric Clapton's Slowhand super deluxe sets: a re-creation of the press book, a re-creation of the ticket, plus the poster, the book, the album and (with luck) double DVD.

Paul didn't have a drug problem. Japan did.

I hope "...Over the World" gets released. It shows great "candid" moments of the tour, including Ringo's backstage meeting with Paul in L.A. Also, many of the songs are trimmed down to allow for their inclusion (while some are completely absent).

What happened with "Venus and Mars"? Thought that was supposed to be out prior to last Christmas??

What happened was Rockshow! being released on DVD. That switched the attention to releasing Wings Over America to match it. Now, Rockshow! is going to be released as part of this set instead.

Venus And Mars will most likely be next. Keep in mind that Paul is working on a new album due soon, and – as Ram demonstrated – there may be more diving into the production end than there was with the first three.

Personally, I'm interested in Venus And Mars by what it will effect Speed Of Sound with. Of all the Wings albums, Speed Of Sound is the LEAST left with additional material: even the CD issues went back to before Venus And Mars for its bonus tracks!

That concert DVD is fantastic (I have what I think is a legitimate Japanese release of it). Am really looking forward to this release.

There's no legitimate release of "Rockshow" on DVD anywhere, Japan or elsewhere, apart from a few songs on the wordwide DVD release "McCartney Years".

This is the blu-ray age, Rockshow should get the full hi-def treatment!

'Rockshow'.....?

Geez, I'd like to finally get 1979's 'Last Flight' recording officially released on CD..

I've enjoyed that fantastic bootleg for many years now.
