Move over, Ms L!

Hi all, wondering why you are looking at this jumbled up page? This is due to the fact that Facebook didn't like our url since it starts with wog, so we have been forced to move the blog. This was some time ago, and we have placed a script which would automatically send you to our new location. Obviously, this hasn't worked for all of you, since we have just finished moderating some of your comments which appeared on this site recently, and not on our new (and improved!) site. So what we're saying is head on over to our new site, and update your bookmarks!

Australian turnaround

The original cover design for the Australian A Hard Day's Night
Umbrella Entertainment, who are releasing the A Hard Day's Night film in Australia are also doing a 360, changing their original cover design due to fan reactions. They had used a 1963 photo of the boys, and fell under heavy criticism for this on their website. Like Second Sight Films in the UK, the company has listened to the fans and are now presenting a new cover, more in line with the USA design:

New design

And on this happy note, WogBlog is taking a holiday break, as we are going to a small Greek island with limited internet coverage. See you!

Bloody awful. The 'flash' photo of Ringo clearly is a mis-match! What are they thinking?

I'd be using other pix of Ringo from the same AHDN session. If they don't like the one everyone else is using (Ringo with flat feet on the ground) - there are others to choose from - like the one where Ringo is jumping like a rabbit...(why did they miss this one>>>?)http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/24200000/Jumping-a-hard-days-night-24207854-448-594.jpg

The cover(s) for these AHDN reissues are indeed diabolical. They are just so dull and basic. A schoolkid with photoshop could do better... Why not just use a variation of one of the original film posters or the LP cover?

Apple has always maintained a high standard of quality with its re-releases. But one worries now that with the involvement of the likes of Universal and Second Sight that the bar may not be so high now...

Agreed Martin.

An improvement on the first design. At least they got the year right this time with the photos, but it could have been a whole lot better. I wonder what sort of cover we would have got if Apple owned the film rights and released exactly the same product worldwide through Universal? There might have been a deluxe box set with reproduction film memorabilia as they did with 'Help!'

What's wrong with those Aussies...? That recplacement is worse than their original choice. Oh, well.

If only I could post a pic here - I'd show 'em the same cover with a much better Ringo pic...

Ronald H. Witt Illinois I've seen many things by the Beatles but have never seen this.

Umbrella Entertainment announced that they would use up their stock of the first design before changing to the second. Their stinginess has probably created a 'collectors item'.

Here's my suggestion to Umbrella...
