Move over, Ms L!

Hi all, wondering why you are looking at this jumbled up page? This is due to the fact that Facebook didn't like our url since it starts with wog, so we have been forced to move the blog. This was some time ago, and we have placed a script which would automatically send you to our new location. Obviously, this hasn't worked for all of you, since we have just finished moderating some of your comments which appeared on this site recently, and not on our new (and improved!) site. So what we're saying is head on over to our new site, and update your bookmarks!

No Deluxe Set listing on Amazon US yet -- is this exclusively a European/UK release??

I'll place a standing order from the UK but will cancel and shift to the US if this gets listed on Amazon(US) soon, at a better price (?)

so we have 2 helter skelter versions here.
the first is the same take from anthology (take 2), complete this time.
the 27min version (take 3), which belongs to this session, is still not available.

the second version (take 17) on this new release is from the remake session, when they decided that it was too slow and too long, so they played it faster, finishing the normal version on this session (take 4 to 21).

so .. no 27min, but a "new" rare version from the remake session.
i think it was a good decision.

beside all of these new releases i'm thinking about the anthology cds, what will happen with it?
it seems that it will be an obsolete release, because the extra cds (sgt pepper and white album) are including material from the anthology project.

also, they are choosing in many cases, releasing rare takes already available as bootlegs, so they can stop them of being published by bootlegers, having this new official release as a digital source.
same idea they did when they released the '63 rarities.

It'll be available cheaper than 140 quid elsewhere, without a doubt.

Where is Paul's version of 'Goodbye'and the 'Revolution 9' sound samples (EMI Test Tape, American Football etc)? And no 'Hey Jude' and 'Revolution' remixes? Knackers!

There’s only one set. The standard English one. Never are the liner notes or anything translated to French. In France we have the booklets in English - Sgt Pepper or Past Masters back in 87-88, Live at the BBC, Anthology, Sgt Pepper Deluxe....
Amazon.fr has THE one without any possible doubt.

£99.99 pre-order for the Super Deluxe from What Records....

Would have liked to have seen the original demo for While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Unaltered, not butchered like it was for Anthology (and the "Sessions" mix).

There are a few recordings that seem to have been missed off of the super-duper edition, such as the Anthology songs from this period not being selected but without the fakery that littered all three Anthology volumes.

Take 1 of SFF was released last year but with the backing vocals that were missing on Anthology 2. Maybe they might have stopped trying to make "new" Beatles albums and concentrating on producing an 'archive ' project. We'll have to wait and see. I am disappointed that "Goodbye" isn't included. The 27 minute "Helter Skelter" seems destined to remain unreleased. "Revolution #9" would have been nice.

Otherwise, it looks good. A pity about the pricing. I wouldn't worry though. The Super-Deluxe Sgt. Pepper still available and the Super-Deluxe White Album will be available well beyond 9 November.

I know it was recently bootlegged (in high quality), but isn't 'Revolution' Take 20 now going to be put out officially on this deluxe reissue? Also, why no trace whatsoever of 'Hey Jude' and 'Hey Bulldog'? As alternate takes and backing tracks of both do exist....

piper909 said...

Over 100 takes of "Not Guilty" and we ponly get one here? (plus maybe the demo) Not very much Hey Jude, either. Complain, complain, right?

Anyway, Amazon US now has the big box listed -- $179 today. I hope this drops some -- seems like the UK price is better, even allowing for currency conversion and shipping.

What an absolute bargain. I'm in already....

I must say the outtakes all look pretty ho hum surely another disc of outtakes would make up for mediocre tracks, Esher Demos big deal after listening to them for decades already. I guess I am spoilt from Bootlegs at least The Beatles get the money this time around .

I totally agree. I would be nice to hear how Revolution 9 was constructed, especially the ad libbed spoken pieces by John and George. It would have great to hear those in full.

I'd love to hear Rocky Raccoon take 😎.
