Move over, Ms L!

Hi all, wondering why you are looking at this jumbled up page? This is due to the fact that Facebook didn't like our url since it starts with wog, so we have been forced to move the blog. "Pink" concert Beatles virtual reunion rumours

Just in: this cryptic press release from David Harrison Levi: "Rumors reported by the Daily Star UK, KEarth101, ABC News, NBC News and others regarding my tentative Sir Paul McCartney & Ringo Starr World Peace Breast Cancer Awareness free “Pink concert” at The Hollywood Bowl tentatively scheduled August 27, 2011 will be addressed at our upcoming worldwide press conference scheduled in February in Beverly Hills. Details to follow."

Just a PR stunt?

I certainly hope that the rumours regarding a "virtual" Beatles reunion are just that. A report surfaced last year from Britain’s tabloid newspaper Daily Star that The Beatles are to have a “virtual reunion” on stage at the Hollywood Bowl for a special charity show. It was believed that Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr would play alongside digital images of John Lennon and George Harrison. There has been no official confirmation from McCartney, Starr or Apple Records.

Well, getting from the Highland Exit to the Hollywood Bowl(about a quarter mile) takes an eternity for the events that charge admission. Any 'Fab + Free' affair as the one you've described will result in 'lockdown' for most of Hollywood to the degree that Amoeba will probably elect to stay open 24 hours since summer evenings down there get pretty crowded already.
As for the 'virtual' members of the quartet on stage...call me when they have a life-size 3D holographic display of the Abbey Road cover!
Thanks for the free watchdog service you provide Roger. That is the only real exciting bargain in my view. Good Work!

Hopefully this is just as you say - a rumour - and there is no truth in it. Its got "bad idea" written all over it.

Of course, Paul McCartney is already performing together with "virtual" Beatles, since he uses images of his old band as well as live footage and RockBand animations as a backdrop at his concerts. And not many have complained about that being tacky or tasteless. So if we just add a live Ringo Starr to the equation, I could live with that. It's more the angle of the news item proclaiming it a "virtual Beatles reunion" that's a bad idea.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to say it...BUT:
Remember the spectacle atmosphere created by the pre-game hype regarding LIVE AID? Wasn't it rumoured heavily that a Beatle Reunion was to culminate the event with Julian Lennon doing the 'virtual Dad' thing? UGH!
Well, technology has apparantly legitimized the spectacle out of all things virtual. So, let's let technology do the nostalgia thing (for the damn fun of it AND for beast cancer awareness) for all of our benefit. Have The NASA try to find the 'missing' blueprints for the Saturn V, call Buzz Aldrin to see if he will promote it, and forget the Hollywood Bowl...have it on the moon...'one more time' for Patriotism, Breast Cancer...and NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM...
(how embarrassing).
Roger, do not fear. This will not harm the affection felt for your great blog. Thanks.
