Move over, Ms L!

Hi all, wondering why you are looking at this jumbled up page? This is due to the fact that Facebook didn't like our url since it starts with wog, so we have been forced to move the blog. This was some time ago, and we have placed a script which would automatically send you to our new location. Obviously, this hasn't worked for all of you, since we have just finished moderating some of your comments which appeared on this site recently, and not on our new (and improved!) site. Paul has remixed "Say Say Say" in a 2015 version. A completely new video without neither Paul nor Michael Jackson has been made, but is not yet ready for publication. In some way,  "Say say say" (12" single mix), "Say say say" (instrumental) and "Simple as that" will be used, possibly as downloads from PaulMcCartney.com

A radio special has been produced for promotional purposes.

It's clear that the "Pipes of Peace" project is somewhat smaller than the "Tug of War" project. "Tug of War" has always been a favourite album for Paul, and he made sure that the album's integrity was preserved for earlier CD releases by not including bonus tracks to the album lineup.

Those of you who were around back in 1984 may recall that Paul and Michael Jackson's duet "The Man" was seriously considered as a third single from "Pipes of Peace" and it was rumoured that these plans had come so far that a music video was produced. An enterprising video bootlegger did put together a collage video for the song back in the eighties, but the real video never leaked. As you can see, neither a single mix nor a music video for that song have been provided as part of this package. However, the home video for "The Man" included here may provide said single mix or footage from the scrapped music video. Or it may just be the regular track with home video footage of Paul and Michael doing the dishes.

Doing the dishes.

This reissue programme is just painful! Not to mention how long it's taking and the random order they're been released in, and also that the cd boxes aren't the same size, making them look untidy on my shelf! I made a decision not to buy the deluxe editions (with book) because of the over inflated prices. And what I've missed out on so far is negligible (although I think Thrillington should have had its own release), but it looks like on Tug Of War I'll miss out on a great third disc! :-( Also I don't like this "digital download only" bonus track thing. The fact that music fans are still buying cds must relay some message... We still want our music on Cd!

Sorry for this negative post, but when it's the third or fourth time you have bought this music you start to wonder why bother?!

On a more positive note, thanks for the info and what a great site this is.

I just want to say completely the opposite of what Beatleleles UK just said :)

Except for the 'more positive note'. I certainly do agree with that! :)

No, I'm really looking forward to these two, and have been enjoying the deluxe editions (neatly stacked on my shelf) immensely! They managed to blow new life in old and sometimes tired albums I've been listening to forever.

Different people, different minds ... ;)

I'm very happy with the contents and packaging of the Archive sets, although I do wish there were more bonus tracks. The remastering has been superb. I'm curious as to how different the new mix of "Tug Of War" will be.

The release date of October 2 includes the US, too, since most of the world has moved to Friday as the new release date for all music, as of earlier this month.

Wish MPL would remaster and reissue Wings Greatest on 180g vinyl.... Just a superb set of songs with a superb album cover. 'Tug Of War' was a great album. 'Pipes' not so much, and I don't think the Jackson collaborations worked at all (still, a better choice than Kanye West though!). In the mid 80s I'd have prefered to hear a Macca/Prince musical summit. I hope 'London Town'and 'Back To The Egg' are done too (and where the hell is 'Red Rose Speedway?!').

I recall a 'bootleg' mix from some years ago.... It was Paul's 'Tug Of War' vocal with the backing track of Procol Harum's 'A Whiter Shade Of Pale.' It actually worked. I think it was called 'A Whiter Shade Of War.'

2019 — Give My Regards To Broadstreet & Cold Cuts

Every year there has been something, and the last two years has seen two packages (2014: "Venus and Mars" and "At the Speed of Sound" so I think perhaps each year will see two releases. It is quite interesting that Paul is doing these in beautiful books and with fascimiles of lyrics and other things, and I really hope all of his albums get this treatment --however long it takes. Really looking forward to diving into both of these sets when I get them!

FYI: Tug Of War super deluxe is already sold out.

It's designated as 'Out of Stock', Brian... NOT 'Sold Out'.
That, as initial buyers of The Beatles in Mono CD box will recall, is quite a distinction.

I'm glad the Sweetest Little Show demo is included. That demo eats the studio version for breakfast every single morning.

I also suppose the lack of inclusion of Ode To A Koala Bear (Australian Mix) will continue the mythology surrounding it's existence.

I believe you can catch "Ode to a Koala Bear" on YouTube. I know I've heard it somewhere.....
