Move over, Ms L!

Hi all, wondering why you are looking at this jumbled up page? This is due to the fact that Facebook didn't like our url since it starts with wog, so we have been forced to move the blog. This was some time ago, and we have placed a script which would automatically send you to our new location. Obviously, this hasn't worked for all of you, since we have just finished moderating some of your comments which appeared on this site recently, and not on our new (and improved!) site. So what we're saying is head on over to our new site, and update your bookmarks!

Let it be for 2021

The original 1970 boxed set of the "Let It Be"-album.
According to sources close to the projects, the yet-not-announced 50th anniversary release of the "Let It Be" album by The Beatles has been postponed to 2021.

This comes as a result of distributor of Peter Jackson's new "Get Back" documentary, Disney having rescheduled the silver screen debut of that film to August 27, 2021. The documentary was originally planned for theatrical release September 4th, 2020. Also, a restored version of Michael Lindsay-Hogg's original documentary "Let It Be" was to follow, but it too, has now been pushed back to 2021.

Giles Martin and his team was going to work on the soundtracks of both films, as well as an anniversary edition of the album this month. Since Abbey Road Studios again is open for business after having been closed for more than ten weeks, that work can go ahead as scheduled. But it will have to spend some time on the shelves before it gets to be released.

Ironically, a delay of over a year and being on the backburner seems to be an eternal fate of the "Get Back" material. Having been filmed and recorded in January 1969, the album as well as the film didn't come to fruition until May 1970, by which time The Beatles had already recorded and released another album, "Abbey Road" - and then disbanded.

UPDATE: We have just received information that a)sound mixing was finished many months ago, which is contrary to the report from Roger Friedman which our comment was based on and b) not all parties have had their say regarding delaying the anniversary album release yet.

I can't see why they can't just put "Get Back" on Disney+ until things settle down and just release the boxset around that time, or around christmas...

I’m guessing they really want to make it possible for Paul and Ringo to attend a star-studded theatrical premiere and make an event if it.

Your handle, "BootlegBob", contains the answer to your own question.

In other words, this will all be TWO years late.

In other words, this will all be THIRTY years late. We’ve been promised a restored LET IT BE since the 1990s.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

No regard for original fans. Especially in these "times of trouble," this is badly needed. But Disney is all about gouging.

What's the hurry? Just wait another ten years until most original fans will be dead. Then wonder why sales will be slow.

It's kind of sad how the covid virus is sort of targeting the original fans' age group. So many of us wanted to see this release.

@Kevin Scheuller...by waiting to do that, they actually increase the chance that one or both won't be around anymore to be there.

I've got Let It Be. I've got Let It Be Naked. I've heard a huge amount of mostly uninteresting stuff the band recorded during these sessions - a lot of which was not recorded on multi-track. And I've heard the recent remixes - the last two being especially relevant here.

I don't actually know what it is that I apparently was going to be buying later this year but now apparently will be buying sometime next year. But whatever it is, frankly I'm more than happy to wait.

I was hoping just to make it to the end of this year! Who the hell do they think is going to buy this stuff by the time they have it just the way they want it? Never mind the film; it's all going to look like what we've seen already. Get the audio into a good format and sell it via subscription, already!

And Happy Birthday, Paul!

Didn't Giles say earlier in the year that he had not begun any remixing of Let it Be yet. This was well after most of us thought he would had begun it to have it ready in time for the 50th anniversary. This was running smack dab into the covid19 shutdown.

That said, I thought maybe his work and Jackson's work might be done without a crew and respecting social distances. This could be one of the few productions completed and might had made an even bigger splash, considering the lack of competing product.

Alas, this will not be the case.

Stop worring about a Middle of the Road Album and get into The Rolling Stones, or Patti Smith instead

And yet Let It Be is 100 times better than anything The Rolling Stones (followers of The Beatles) or Patti Smith have ever released. Maybe you should be worried.

They'll want a splash of publicity on all the morning TV breakfast shows that the oldies watch - that means getting Paul, Ringo and Peter Jackson out to do some interviews and maybe a red carpet premiere. They're just lucky this was their last album so it doesn't clash with a similar anniversary in 2021.

Could be delayed again - it may end up clashing now with a 20th Anniversary Extended Ultra Long Mega Cut of Lord Of The Rings that Jackson will be promoting. So maybe push the Beatles project back to 2022?

William Campbell, let it bleed is 100 times better than let it be. in terms of songwriting and recording, it sounds miles better than let it be, the songs are better written and not thrown together from a great distance, non of the beatles had any really good songs at this stage, any they did have they saved for their soon to be solo albums.

The Beatles didn't really have any good songs at this stage?

"Let It Be," "Get Back," and "The Long And Winding Road" are not good songs?

Nothing the Stones did can touch any of those songs.

Save your comments for April 1st.

Let It Bleed is not even a good Stones album. It has three monster hits, Gimme Shelter, Monkey Man and You Can't Always Get What You Want. Not any of my favorites. You Can't Always Get is great but too long.

Give me Let it Be over Let it Bleed any day.

Oh, and by the way, 'Ken,' have you never heard of ABBEY ROAD, The Beatles' best selling album?

You know, the LAST album they recorded, the one AFTER Let It Be.

I guess all of the songs that made it onto Abbey Road were just throwaway tracks.

So "Something," "Here Comes The Sun," "Come Together," "Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight / The End" weren't 'saved for their soon to be solo albums' because they weren't good enough.

Maybe you should stick to a Rolling Stones fan page. Enjoy the Kool-Aid there.
