Next year's McCartney archives

Back to the Egg for 40th anniversary release next year
Rumour section: I heard recently that the two remaining Wings albums, "London Town" and "Back To The Egg" are next up, and will be released to the 2019 Christmas market. Let's just hope that a Wings live 1979 edition will be included with the regular DeLuxe and not in a very limited edition special edition like the Wings 1972-73 disc was. Wings members Steve Holley and Laurence Juber have both given their input years ago to the "Back To The Egg" re-release.

Meanwhile, the archive edition of "Flaming Pie" has also been finished for years, but has yet to be scheduled.

Also, and this is not a rumour, Mike McCartney is working on the ultimate version of his "McGear" album, which was a Wings album as good as any, just with Mike handling the vocals and writing the songs.

Here's a Wings live rendition of "Wonderful Christmastime" to get you in the mood for the festive season, hopefully one of the tracks up for official release next year.

I absolutely love London Town and have got to get into Back to the Egg - don't know why but Back to the Egg has never connected with me.

Wonderful Christmastime was included as a reissue of the McCartney II album.

I've got a feeling there could be extra material to create a super deluxe Wings 1978-79.
There's already enough video material to include in the normal archive releases such as Back to the Egg film, possibly Kampuchea, promo's etc but he could make a thing of the Wings Live tour of 1979 by including for example Wings Live in Glasgow on film! Now that would be a pull to part you with your £300+ again...

nowhereman, these boxes cost too much to be sticking in someone's ass. But I guess if you buy it, you can do what you like with it.

"a Wings album as good as any" . . . that sure covers a VERY wide spectrum, now doesn't it? lol

The archive series is way too expensive for what you get.

What about a re-release of The Concert for the People of Kampuchea?

I am so sick of the government mandating that I have to purchase these box sets! Oh, wait, what, I have a choice. I don't have to buy this. Please stop the price complaining, PLEASE and thank you.

Happy Christmas mr brailsford.
Maybe some folk have spent their whole lives buying beatle product and would like to to have more but can’t afford to shell out £150 to own some new or unreleased tracks.
Maybe 300 quid for a wings box, 60 quid for an imagine box £120 for a white album and 125 for a McCartney ticket is small change to you but to some of us old folk.....

Actually, I don't buy this stuff and I no longer go to see McCartney because of the prices.

But, I don't care if anyone else does.

If no one paid the price, they wouldn't sell it. There are plenty of ways to get unreleased tracks for free. Also, usually, if you wait, you can get the music at a discount buying the CD's used. These really are niche products that do not sell that many copies

In the end, we all share the love of The Beatles music!

Merry Xmas to you and yours from across the pond.

Dave

While you're waiting for the next two box sets, there are a couple of free downloads that weren't included on the last two sets.

Unfortunately, they are crappy mp3s.

Lets see the second edition of the big box Wings Over Europe set for all the fans who missed out on that first!

I’m with Mark. I have put off buying RRS and WWL once I had heard that Wings ‘71-‘73 MIGHT be coming out in a second edition as long as the audio and video content are the same, I’m fine with, as long as it is definitely happening.

The Wings Over Europe set is excellent.

It's great to hear those early songs played live.

And the sound quality is better than expected.

Sounds like John Smith is a thoroughly scandalous bounder
